Assessments
There are different forms of assessment used at UNE. The most common are online tests, quizzes and submission of files.
Remember to take into account time zone differences to avoid penalties for late submission. You can check what the current Armidale local time is on the UNE time block in each of your units (or this) moodle site.
Quizzes and online tests
Quizzes can be set up in different ways for different purposes. They may be an assessable component of a unit or may be used for you to test your own knowledge.
Assessable quizzes are usually set so that they are only accessible for a certain period. Due to the various ways a quiz can be set up it is important to read the information provided with each quiz.
This is a test quiz you can go through if you to see how a Moodle quiz works.
Creating and Submitting Audio and Video assessment tasks
Always look for specific instructions in your unit if you have an assignment which requires submission in audio or video format. General instructions are included below for using both MyMedia and creating and submitting audio/ video assignments using a mobile device (these instructions include information on compressing files and using YouTube).
Checking assessments for originality
UNE uses a software application to determine the originality of assessable work submitted by its students. The software used is Turnitin and it is part of the assignment submission process.
Turnitin checks the originality of your work by comparing text from your assignment against many billions of web pages, student papers and leading library databases and publications. Turnitin produces a report that will highlight any similarities detected.
Exams
Many units have a final exam. The UNE Course handbook has information about assessment items, including if it has an exam. Traditionally, exams have been held at established exam centres where the exam is completed on paper with hand written responses.
Most of UNE's exams are held supervised exams online using the services of ProctorU, where you can complete the exam on your own computer in your own space.

Past Exam Papers
Where past exam papers from the previous 6 years have been released they will appear in the Past Exams Moodle unit.
Note: not all units offered at UNE have exams and not all of those units will release their exam papers to this collection
You can use these resources to assist you in preparing for exams or to give you a feel for the unit when deciding whether to enrol.
